Conway Still Silent

Sunday, the Courier-Journal reported that Jack Conway, the commonwealth’s Attorney General, would soon be issuing a response to a letter sent by Hal Heiner, Tina Ward-Pugh, and others regarding the legality of Jerry Abramson’s dealings with the Cordish Group. In the article, Conway’s office states that the opinion should be rendered in approximately two weeks.
In response to the article, members of Louisville Metro Council have attempted to get more information from the Attorney General’s office, to no avail. The only information that even members which sent the letter can get is from the Courier-Journal. As of date, Attorney General Jack Conway has yet to inform council members of when they will receive the opinion, or what has taken so long in rendering the opinion.
In the meantime, Bruce Traughber of the Mayor’s Economic Development team, Louisville Metro Council President David Tandy, (Democrat- District 4), Louisville Metro Auditor Michael S. Norman, and David Morris of Downtown Management, are preparing a report that is expected to be delivered to the Council as early as today. This report is expected to discuss how the Cordish Group spent the $950,000 of taxpayer money renovating a bowling alley and other work that was approved by Mayor Jerry Abramson without Louisville Metro Council’s consent.
