Budget Brings Optimism

A “source in the know” has stated that many in the Louisville Metro Council are “cautiously optimistic” about the budget which will appear before the whole committee tomorrow. The source states that there have been many positive outcomes from the discussions and meetings. Millions of dollars have been cut from spending, and though some have been cut from various organizations causing a loss in jobs, those are minimal; and some jobs are opening up in needed areas.
The Metro Office of Internal Audit, under the direction of Mr. Michael Norman will have two new positions opening up so that the office can continue on the tasks that they have undertaken. Money has been set aside to provide for the Anonymous Tip-line, which was passed last month. Another positive that has been cited is that an “emergency fund” has been set up so that if the mayor, Jerry Abramson, has to cut spending in the upcoming year, the council has already ensured that the money to continue the function of government is already available and ensuring that no cuts must be made.
Though there is expected to be some discussion on these items, there will be many that are expected to agree with the budget and keep it very close to how the mayor presented it.
