Budget Brings Big Discussions

Many citizens of Louisville are by now well aware of the various talks about the budget proposal by Mayor Jerry Abrahmson. This proposal will eliminate jobs, yet will also cut over five million dollars fromt he expected expenditures.

The proposal came after nineteen members of Louisville Metro Council submitted a survey and the results were given to the mayor. In that survey, the council members ranked the services provided to metro citizens from the most important to the least important. Tonight, another one of the most important services is being discussed in committee.

According to the schedule, Metro Police budget is on the agenda to be discussed. this department will not be cut back significantly, as all members of the council that submitted their surveys ranked this of high importance.

Other services discussed tonight is Housing and Family Services.

The budget has been greatly discussed and has been taking up much time and attention of various council members, including a number who are not on the committee for discussing the budget. They are paying close attention to the discussion, and that has taken much of their time.
